The RN-BSN Program offered by the School of Nursing at Georgia Southern University is completely ONLINE. The program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education and has Georgia Board of Nursing Approval. The philosophy of the School of Nursing is congruent with the values and mission of the university. Nursing is a practice discipline which includes both didactic and clinical preparation. Nursing education is based on theory, research, and practice in nursing and other disciplines. The goal of nursing education is to prepare critically thinking, skilled nurses who act to promote, maintain, and restore health through partnership with persons, families, groups, and communities.
Admissions Requirements
Requirements for admission to the program are based on requirements in place at the time of application. To be considered for admission, applicants must have:
• Attained admission to Georgia Southern University;
• Requested official transcript(s) for all college course work attemptedand assured that the transcripts have been received in the University’sAdmissions Office;
• Received an Associate Degree or Diploma in Nursing from an accreditedinstitution;
• Current Georgia RN licensure; provided existing professional licensesto the faculty for visualization (for applicants who hold a current valid healthprofessional license, e.g. RN, LPN, EMT, RT, RD);
• Achieved a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better onall attempted hours in the Core Curriculum in Areas A-F. Those students who holda B.A. or B.S. degree must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 for all course work. Provisionaladmission with a 2.7 GPA is available; students admitted on a provisional statusmust earn a GPA of 3.0 for the first 6 hours of nursing courses;
• Completed a minimum of 45 semester credit hours of required course workwith a grade of “C” or better;
• Returned the nursing application to the School.
• Participated in a School of Nursing orientation or approved alternate.
In addition, before admission to the nursing courses, with the exception of NURS3139 and NURS 4132, applicants must have met:
• School of Nursing clinical course requirements, including: (a) healthhistory and physical examination; (b) immunization requirements including measles,rubella, and hepatitis B; (c) tuberculosis screening; (d) current American HeartAssociation CPR for Health Care Providers’ certification; (e) health professionsRN liability insurance; and (f) health insurance.
Attendance Requirements
- During the first semester, new students attend an all-day orientation on-campus OR arrange an approved alternate experience. First semester students also meet on-campus for the final exam (NURS 3139) OR develop a planned/approved alternative. During the last semester of the program, students meet on-campus once for NURS 4229 OR develop a planned/approved alternative. Additionally, students meet on-campus once or twice for NURS 3230 (Health Assessment) OR develop a planned/approved alternative.
Transfer Policies
- The school endorses the Georgia RN-BSN Articulation Plan: Students who satisfactorily complete six semester hours of nursing coursework will be awarded 29 semester hours for junior and senior level courses.

Tuition and Fees
This tution rate is $147 per credit hour.
Special Enrollment Issues
- Complementary Therapeutic Modalities (NURS 4132) is a course that is open to any junior or senior student (a student is not required to be enrolled in the nursing program to take this course).
