Description

The Physical Education concentration is an online program that emphasizes current pedagogical thinking, research, and teacher effectiveness in Physical Education. The goal of the program is to produce master-level instructors who can integrate research and theory into current teaching practices. As a capstone experience, all students will complete an action research project. This program requires 36 semester hours.

Admissions Requirements

Admission Requirements - Regular

  • Completion of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Possession of or eligibility for the Georgia Level Four Teaching Certificate or equivalent in Health and Physical Education.
  • Minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.75 (4.0 scale).
  • Minimum score of 400 on the GRE Verbal section plus submission of scores for the:
    • Quantitative and Analytical sections of the GRE taken prior to October 1, 2002, OR
    • Quantitative and Analytical Writing sections of the GRE taken after October 1, 2002.
  • A full vitae or resume that includes the following: a) Work history, b) Professional experiences, c) Membership and participation in professional organizations, d) Other experiences related to the academic program, and e) Contact information for a minimum of three references.
  • A phone, internet, or in-person interview with Dr. Tony Pritchard.

    • Quantitative and Analytical sections of the GRE taken prior to October 1, 2002.

Attendance Requirements

Two week on campus requirement in the Summer.

Transfer Policies

Transfer credits must be approved by the advisor of the degree granting institution.

Special Program Requirements

Students must have access to a digital video camera and remote microphone along with software to enable video editing (e.g., Microsoft Movie Maker, Dartfish). Additional course specific software may be required.

Tuition and Fees

Newly admitted graduate students entering a totally online graduate program for Summer 2008 will pay a graduate online tuition rate of $350 per course credit hour. Continuing graduate students in a totally online program will pay the graduate online tuition rate beginning Summer 2009.

Special Enrollment Issues

The Master student should be culturally sensitive, open to discuss diversity, willing to understand inclusion and engaged in studying physical education in the school context.
